Spikes Make Run at CABA World Series

The 16u Canton Spikes finished up the 2015 summer season with an impressive run, finishing fourth at the 30th Annual 17u CABA High School World Series held in Euclid, Ohio. The Spikes played 10 games in 5 days from July 21st to July 25th, winning 7 and losing 3 in the traditional, double elimination tournament. The Spikes used a combined roster that includeed 9 players from their Elite roster and 6 players from their Showcase roster to impress their mostly older competition.

After avenging a 7-2 loss to Hard Core Red (Miami, FL) with a 10-4 elimination victory, the Spikes came within a base hit of sending the 17u Cincinnati Stix home on their final day. The 5-4 loss in extras kept the Spikes from advancing to the final day along with perennial national power Bergen Beach (Brooklyn, NY) and eventual champion Lake Erie, both 17u clubs.

Next year's Spikes intend to return to CABA to complete some unfinished business. Spikes AJ Marko and Ryan Thompson were named to the all-tournament team.
